After what seemed like the third late start in a row - I was on my way out of Galway City and headed to County Clare. After about a half hour of driving I came upon Dungaire Castle. The castle was not open but I was able to walk around and get a few pictures of this structure that dates back to the 16th century.
My itinerary put the drive at under two hours. However, the itinerary did not build into it the stop and wander time I needed to stretch this trip into three hours plus. I did see a lot of beautiful sites as I wondered.
My plan was to take the better part of two days to hike the Cliffs of Moher. I arrived at the Cliffs on a beautiful Friday afternoon and hiked into the evening. Most of the tour companies were pulling out as I was arriving so it was very quiet on the cliffs besides the wind that was constant. I really enjoyed spending the early part of the evening as the sun was starting to set on the cliffs before I headed to my B&B.
